A call has been made…a Call to Liberty… to rendezvous in the Mac-o-chee Valley of the Ohio Country. Here, the remote Mad River Valley was witness to the Bullskin Trace where Simon Kenton ran the gauntlet an unprecedented nine times and escaped being burned at the stake three times, the Shawnee Indian villages flourished, General Simon Kenton, Col. Benjamin Logan and Col. Daniel Boone walked and, General Hull's army was recruited and trained on what is now Main Street (Hull's Trace). A Call to Liberty portrays life on the early Ohio frontier during the pre-1840’s, representing a cross-section of the diverse population who made Ohio. A call has been made to French, English & colonials, Native Americans, voyagers & longhunters, artisans, regiments, sutlers, story tellers, trades & craftspeople, musicians, interpreters, demonstrators, fife & drum corps, and the public. Activities for men, women and children will include hawk and knife throwing, archery, primitive shooting, a Seneca run, and various other events. Walk-in competitors are welcomed, but are subject to the full camp fee and must be in period dress to participate in the events. Water, firewood and privies are provided. Entertainers and demonstrators are welcomed. We look forward to seeing you there. Answer the Call!!! NEW!!!!!! Our 2006 event will feature a primitive shoot. The prize for best combined scoring competitor of the hawk & knife, archery, and shooting will receive a custom made hawk and knife, several accessories, and a customized wood-inlayed display box.
